The City Of Hoboken contracts with AHS for animal control services, so all stray animals and injured wildlife found in Hoboken are taken to AHS's Newark shelter. AHS, founded in 1906, is a full-service humane society and the largest animal shelter system in NJ. They operate four animal care centers and Popcorn Park Zoo, a sanctuary for injured, ill, exploited, abused, abandoned, and elderly wildlife, birds, exotic, and farm animals. AHS also publishes The Humane News, the largest humane magazine in the world, helps prosecute animal cruelty cases, and promotes protective legislation. Click here for AHS's current pet lists.
